Air Travel to Brisbane Access to Brisbane is available through the Brisbane International Airport and also via International airports in Cairns, the Gold Coast and Sydney. Regular domestic air connections to Brisbane are available from all major Australian cities and major regional centres.

Airport/Hotel Transfers Downtown Brisbane is only 25 minutes by taxi, bus, train or private vehicle from domestic and international airports.

Airtrain Brisbane's world class airport rail link, creates a direct connection between Brisbane's Domestic and International Airports and the Brisbane CBD. It is fast, frequent and affordable. This service operates from the airport to the CBD between 0615hrs and 1930hrs. You can also travel direct to/from South Brisbane Station adjacent to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. A taxi fare will cost approximately AUD30.00 from the Airport to most Congress hotels.

Skytrans Airport/Sunbus operates a shuttle service every half hour between Brisbane airport and CBD hotels. The service runs every 30 minutes from 0500hours to 1630hours, 7 days a week and costs approximately AUD11.00 one way.

Car Rental All major car rental companies have offices located at the Domestic and international terminals at Brisbane Airport. To drive in Australia you must have a current driver's licence.

Travel Insurance We recommend delegates effect insurance against property loss, personal injury, travel, registration and accommodation cancellation cost and any other risks. International delegates are not covered by the Australian Medicare system. All delegates are encouraged to take out comprehensive travel insurance including medical insurance cover. Visas and Quarantine All non Australian and New Zealand passport holders require a visa or Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) to enter Australia. We strongly recommend that you apply for your visa not less than (2) months prior to your intended travel date.

A Letter of Invitation to the Congress may be required with your visa application. These letters will only be provided to persons who have registered for the Congress and paid registration fees in full.

Australia has very strict quarantine rules and failure to observe quarantine requirements is treated severely by Australian authorities. You may be subject to examination by quarantine officers on arrival in Australia. We recommend you visit the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service website www.aqis.gov.au for further information prior to arriving in Australia.

Local Transport The Central Business District is compact and attractive and many visitors elect to walk within the city to experience the relaxed ambience and explore the many pathways and bikeways.

City Train Citytrain operates regular, air-conditioned electric train services from South Brisbane Station, adjacent to the Convention Centre, to the City every 5-10 minutes with services stopping at midnight.

Buses Brisbane Transport operates a comprehensive and reliable bus network throughout the city, from early morning until approx 2300hours.

Driving In Australia Australians drive on the left hand side of the road. The maximum speed limit in most areas is 50km/h (30mph) and on highways it is 100km/h (60mph). Signs indicate speed limits. A valid international driver's licence must be carried at all times whilst driving in Australia and occupants must wear a seat belt at all times.

Climate August is a winter month in Australia. In Brisbane winter is mild and very enjoyable. Most days are sunny and the temperature ranges from an average mid-day temperature of 20OC degrees to an average night-time temperature of 10oC degrees. Sun protection is recommended at all times however especially during middle of the day (1000hrs - 1400hrs); 15+ sunscreen, hats, cool clothing that protects from the sun are highly recommended.
