Full Day Tours – generally 7 to 9 hours
Part Day Tours – generally 5 to 6 ¾ hours, most arriving back at the convention centre by 3pm
Boat travel – a few of the tours involve some boat travel, if you do not wish to travel on a boat please let the person at the ticketing desk know so that you can be placed on another tour

How to obtain a ticket

Decide which tour group you would like to attend from the table above
You will receive a ticket in your registration envelope, take this ticket to the In-Congress Tours Desk during registration opening hours to the cut-off deadline of 5.00pm Tuesday 9 August and exchange for a specified tour ticket. Note the earlier you do this the more likely you'll get the type of tour you want.

Other important information to note:

There are no options to change tours once you've been allocated to one.
Each tour will have a maximum number of seats allocated once the tour has reached maximum numbers it is closed off.
If you want to go in a group the whole group must go the registration desk to select their tour together.

What to Wear

Must have enclosed footwear (no sandals), sensible clothing for walking in the bush, sun protection.

Delegates must remember to wear their namebadges at all times.

Explanation of Tour themes

Plantations / Timber Production: tour stops may involve one or more of the following;

Hoop pine, exotic pine or eucalypt plantations
Native forest managed for timber production
A nursery for production of plantation trees

Forest Recreation, conservation or urban forestry: tour stops may include one or more of the following;

A national park, council or privately managed bushland
A rainforest or other forest walk
A koala conservation area or wildlife display

Research: tour stops may include one or more of the following:

A visit to a local university or research centre for a tour of their facilities and presentations on local forest research projects
A visit to a forest research trial site (topics may include clonal forestry, fire ecology, species trials, reclamation of degraded lands)

Industry: tour stops involve a tour through a timber processing or timber industry site

Miscellaneous: tour stops may involve any of the above.
