Scientist Assistance Program

The deadline for applications for the Scientific Assistance Program (SAP) has closed and no further applications will be received for consideration. The review of applications and allocation of assistance has now been fully assigned and we are unable to provide any further financial assistance to delegates to attend the Congress.

If you have submitted a SAP application for the Congress and have not yet received notification, please contact the Congress Manager.

The following criteria was used to review all applications received under SAP.

Other Considerations

All applicants considered essential or critical to the success of the Congress will be identified using the following criteria (in order of priority from high to low) and short-listed without further consideration:

  1. organiser of a Sub-Plenary session;
  2. speaker (invited paper) at a Sub-Plenary session;
  3. organiser of a Group session; or
  4. poster in a Sub-Plenary session.

Applicants will be automatically rejected, unless the Selection Committee considers there are special circumstances, if they are:

  1. above 57 years of age; or
  2. above 45 years of age and funded to attend the previous IUFRO Congress.

The following will apply:

  1. late applications will only be considered after the closing date in exceptional circumstances;
  2. congress registration will be deducted before monies are allocated;
  3. the maximum amount of any recipient of SAP funding is AUD$6,000;
  4. partial funding (accommodation and per diem) may be offered to some applicants; and
  5. SAP funding will not automatically be awarded to IUFRO award winners, e.g. Scientific Achievement Awardees.
