About
Cairns
Cairns is a vibrant tropical city fringed by the Great Barrier Reef and
World Heritage listed rainforests. It is a world renowned tourist destination.
Cairns International Airport provides easy access, with direct flights
from the Asia Pacific region and regular flights to and from Australian
capital cities.
Although
small, Cairns has a lively atmosphere with great restaurants, excellent
accommodation, exciting shopping and an abundance of cruises, tours and
attractions. The climate is tropical with mean daily temperatures in July
ranging from 16 to 26 degrees Celsius.
Far
north Queensland is one of the most diverse regions in Australia. A short
cruise will take you to the spectacular Great Barrier Reef. North of Cairns
is the resort town of Port Douglas, the rainforests of the Daintree and
Cape Tribulation and the dramatic Cape York Peninsula wilderness. To the
south lies the scenic beauty of Mission Beach and the Atherton Tableland,
while to the west are the plains and gorges of the Gulf Savannah.
