Cairns has an International Airport which you may be able to fly to directly or transfer to from Brisbane or Sydney, depending on your country of origin and airline. Airport Transfers
Cairns Airport Transfer Services Bus shuttle regularly pick up and set
down travelers at most hotels and accommodation establishments. In addition
to a public airport shuttle service, many hotels and motels have private
transfer buses, so check with Ozaccom or your travel agent when booking
your accommodation.
Australia Coach operates an airport shuttle service to the city ($4.50 one way, children under 14 travel free) and between the domestic and international terminals ($1 each). It picks up immediately in front of the arrival halls at both terminals.
Car
Hire
Major rental companies are represented at the airport. Reservations prior
to arrival are recommended although not essential.
Taxi
Reasonably priced and available from cab ranks at airports, railway stations,
coach terminals and other locations throughout the city. Taxis can be
hailed or booked by telephone (131 008). Approximate cost from the airport
to Cairns City
Centre is $12.00 one way.
